Question about double majoring (geology)!

I want to major in Geology, but I love Russian also, so I thought about double majoring. My school offers a BA in Geology that will allow me to do a double major with Russian. I can't double major if I do the BS. I do plan on going to grad school for geology.

My question is: Will having a BA instead of a BS in geology put me at a disadvantage in any way for grad school/ finding jobs? Does it matter at all? Is a BS preferable?

If I had to do it all over again, I would push myself toward the BS in Geology. Why? The BS involves more math and physics and i would have been better prepared for a career in hydrogeology. As such, I opted for the BA and ended up taking many "after-college" courses to get the education needed for my geology niche. Double major is a nice benefit if you can work it out, however, if you can read and write Russian, do you really need the certificate that states you can? Does your college prevent you from picking up the Russian classes even w/o declaring it a major area of study?

A Bachelor of Science degree is always a step up from a Bachelor of Arts degree. So the BS will carry more "weight" with it when you go out to find that job in Geology. I have no idea why you want to double major in Russian, but if that's your thing.. I would think of something else. You need a BS to get your foot in the door at most places.

Not to insult anyone, but a Bachelor of Arts is pretty much the kindergarten version of a college degree.

BA -- BS -- MS -- PhD

I would stick to getting a BS but when you apply to grad schools, they really want to know what your professors thought of you and what your grades were. You will also have to take the GRE so they will look at that score as well.
Can you not minor in Russian instead?
