Okay so I know that methanol and oxygen react to form carbon dioxide and water but...
can I balance the formula like:
CH4O + 1.5O2 -> CO2 + 2H2O?
or does it have to be like this:
2CH4O + 3O2 -> 2CO2 + 4H2O?

it is not acceptable to use fractions except in special cases such as
H2 + (1/2) O2 = H2O
When in doubt, always stick with integers

Either way is OK, but some people like to have integer coefficients.
