Chemistry Conversions, HELP!

.or ? centigrams =42 kg. I can do the conversation.........
Can someone please help me with this problem and explain how it's done?

? centigrams/liter = .550 grams/milliter

How do I solve this? I know how to do the regular conversations like ? hours = 3.00 years....or ? centigrams =42 kg. I can do the conversation...but I'm messing up on the problem above because of the "liter" underneath the centigram. How do you solve it?

think of the units seperately.. g / mL and plan on converting 1 at a time.. I think it's easiest to learn this by starting with the numerator..

(0.550 g / mL) x (100cg / 1g) x (1000mL / 1L) = 5.50x10^4 cg / L

**********
notice...

(g / mL) x (cg / g) ---> cg / mL??? the g / g cancels out

then..
(cg / mL) x (mL / L) ---> cg / L... mL / mL cancels out

and I can string these along as much as I need.
(g / mL) x (cg / g) x (mL / L) ---> cg / L

**********
this is called "factor label method".. which is a subset of "dimensional analysis". read my answer here where I explain the technique
