Kwest say: it didn't make itself
it was a series of chemical reactions.
scientists have made RNA in labs and may soon discover how DNA is made, naturally
-
say: Atheism is simply the lack of belief in a god or gods. To read more into it than that is not intellectually honest.
-
Sookey say: The first cell didn't "make itself," it would have formed when a self-replicating bit of RNA became encased in a lipid layer. Scientists have shown that both RNA and lipid layers can form spontaneously under conditions that would have existed in the early earth.
I'm sure you're not allowed to learn modern science, but you need to stop pretending that it doesn't exist at all.
-
Owen say: atheist = the knowledge no god has been proven to exist
scientist = person who explains natural phenomena
some of whom are theists
your problem would seem to be not knowing who to ask
which is probably why you believe in an invisible friend but can't explain where that came from

sheloves_dablues say: I don't have faith in the big bang theory. I don't know why. That does not mean I'm obligated to believe in sky-daddy

biggalloot2003 say: You must not understand how intelligence works. When I can't know for sure, I assign probabilities based on the information available.
Science provides several ways that the first cell could have occurred using materials and natural laws known to actually existed at the time. I would call that explanation probable. Not proven, just reasonable.
Religion requires I accept the existence of an unprovable entity using unprovable methods. That of course is stupidity.
There still exists other alternatives to religion, but none that do not require one to believe in the unprovable. Yet many are more easily supported than religion.
So, for now, science leads the way.

The tin man say: And can you tell me; If there is a god, why did he start back there with just a cell. Why didn't he begin at a more advanced stage.
-
Bry say: I'm not an atheist but "life" could have come in on a meteorite. It would have had to come from somewhere because it could not have created itself from what was available on earth.
As for me, I think one would have to be incredibly naive to believe that life created itself and in time became what it is.
