explain why meiosis, rather than mitosis, provides for the production by sexual reproduction of offspring that contain the same number of chromosomes as the parents?
-
meiosis is a production of sex cells. Eggs for female, sperms for male. It has half set of chromosomes. When an egg and a sperm is joined during fertilization, it becomes a full set of chromosomes. It will then go under mitosis, which is the production of body cells. They make full sets of chromosomes.
