The question is "speculate why antibiotics are not listed as treatment agents for either virus." the viruses are the Common Cold and Influenza. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Viruses aren't alive. It's just a protein shell with a rope of RNA or DNA inside. Antibiotics work by killing the bacteria. With a virus, there is nothing to kill.

The virus goes inside the cell and kind of "disguises" itself, so it's harder for the antibiotic to go after it.
Viruses technically aren't living, but that doesn't mean they can't be destroyed (You'd have to denature the protein coat).
