Earth would eventually have a ring that would coalesce to form one or 2 smaller moons. Earth would be less massive. Eventually the crust would solidify.

The Moon is moving AWAY from Earth an average of 3.8 centimeters, 1.625 inches per YEAR and Earth's rotation rate is slowing down because of the conservation of angular momentum and inertia.

say: No big deal if it landed in the ocean vs. on land where it would crush a continent. Maybe a few fish would be pissed, but they only have a 3 second memory- so it wouldn't bother them long. They would just swim around it.
