and continues to accelerate until it reaches normal low earth orbital velocity of around 7.8 km/s (28,080 km/h) or 17,550 mph. At this point it releases the satellite. If a higher orbit is required a smaller rocket attached to the satellite boosts it to the required height.......
How is a satellite put into orbit around the earth?
I'm studying for a test and I don't know this

answers:
Dump the liberals into Jupiter say: With rockets.

spot a say: A rocket with the satellite on the top as payload takes off vertically at first to get through the thick lower atmosphere as quickly as possible. The rocket then gradually turns to the east to take advantage of the 1000 mph angular momentum of the earth, and continues to accelerate until it reaches normal low earth orbital velocity of around 7.8 km/s (28,080 km/h) or 17,550 mph. At this point it releases the satellite. If a higher orbit is required a smaller rocket attached to the satellite boosts it to the required height. Higher orbits are slower than low orbits

say: well since matter is attracted to matter via gravitational force and we know the larger the mass
the larger the attraction because the moon is able to lift the ocean tide because it is smaller mass than earth so earth can't hold its own water we have figured out that the moon can also lift satellites into orbit.........its that simple
just wait for high tide and throw one up in the air........think about it

derfram say: As QC states, the rocket needs to both boost the satellite to the needed altitude and give it the correct horizontal velocity to achieve orbit. For low earth orbit, the rocket may have to boost the satellite to 150 miles, and give it enough horizontal push so it is traveling at 17,500 mph.

Alpha Beta say: You launch it on top of a rocket, get it to orbit or escape velocity for higher orbits, and let it go.
-
Nyx say: Using your own question, Google returns this -

-
quantumclaustrophobe say: It's launched on top of a rocket, which boosts it's altitude as far above the atmosphere as necessary, while adding orbital speed to the satellite - about 17,500 for Low Earth Orbit.
-
DON W say: It is placed on top of a rocket powerful enough to reach earth orbit. The satellite is detached by remote control, and placed into earth orbit.
