Japan should be on top of things when it comes to technology, how come i haven't heard of any news of Japanese space explorations?? with their 5 years advance lead in technology they should have built ships fit for space travel by now!

The Japanese are wisely focusing the development of their robotics and artificial intelligence technology into applications that are relevant to everyday life. That is where the market and the money is.
History will reveal that while countries like the USA are "fricking around" in space and paying out toxic banking institutions, countries like Japan which focus their resources to where the demand is: here on Earth, will ascend to ultimate dominancy over the world's economies.
America is squandering it's big (and probably only) chance at recovery by not pouring it's resources into being the first nation to bring personal robotics to the world.
Cheers!

I don't think Japan has ever been interested in the "space race" i don't think they've put anything in space ever except for a few communications satellites...
I suppose they have bigger problems to deal with, as do other countries that have neglected other stuff trying to conquer fricking space like there aren't starving people and pollution and corrupted politicians and kids being raped by priests down here on earth
Japs are just smarter with their money!!!!

Japan did launch a space probe to Mars in 1998.
The 'Nozomi' had been having difficulties, one problem was that it had strayed off coures. Although attempts were made to salvage the mission and correct this, the probe was nearly out of fuel.
Nozomi will remain in orbit with alternative mission, including monitoring solar activity.
Japan recently launched the H-2A.
It carried a pair of spy satellites. The H-2A strayed and was destroyed. Causing Japans space program to postphone several other space missions.

You either aren't paying attention or the source of your news science news is doing a crappy job. Japan has an extensive space exploration program and has numerous probes/missions both active and being planned, including a plan to colonize the Moon someday.

PS There's no such thing as a "five year lead" in technology.

They just haven't gotten that far. So far the best they have done is a sample return mission from an asteroid and orbit the moon.
