A lot of people are stating that because the Mayan calander stops on that date, means that the world is going to end, with also Notradamus stating something was going to happen in 2012 (Notradamus has basically stated Hitler would exist, 9/11 and other different events that actually happened.)
People believe its a hoax.

All this nonsense about 2012 was started because of the Mayan Calender.
The World will NOT come to an end just because of the end of the Long Count on the Mayan Calender. Misinterpretation of the Mayan Long Count calendar is the basis for a New Age belief that a cataclysm will take place on December 21, 2012.
December 21, 2012 is simply the day that the calendar will have to begin again. This cycle, which begins at the mythical Maya creation date, has already been repeated 12 times. The 13th will end in 2012, capping a full 5,200 year Mayan cycle of creation.
What is going to happen on 21 DEC is the Solstice. Nothing else, EXCEPT = All the Doomsday NUTS will have to come up with a different date.

its just a rumour! back then the ancient peoples said that Before 2012 it was 2006. Then 2000. And 1990, 1988, 1987, 1986, 1985, 1984, 1982, 1980, 1975, 1974, 1970, 1967, 1960, 1957, 1953, 1948, 1940, 1936, 1919, 1915, 1914, 1891, 1856, 1850, 1844, 1832, 1830, 1794, 1792, 1736, 1689, 1669, 1533, 1524, 1496, 1346, 1284, 1205, 1033, 1005, 1000, 992, 968, 500, 375, 365, 200, 90, 60, 30. and it never did its fake! its based on the end of some calender!
