We don't hear a lot about astronauts walking on the surface. The International space station is not on the moon but it floats. Is NASA holding some info regarding the moon?

<< Why NASA no more goes to moon? >>
▬ Going to Moon would cost too much relative to the data they would obtain. However, establishing a base on the Moon is a possibility in the future.

▬ There are no astronauts on the surface of any celestial object, other that Earth.

NASA (and other space agencies) is STILL going to the Moon. It's just not sending astronauts because manned missions cost orders of magnitude more than sending robots. The Apollo program was a political program (to show the Russians that the Americans could do it first), not a scientific program.
The latest NASA mission to the Moon was launched on September 2011. It's due to arrive on the Moon on January 2012 and its science program will begin on March 2012. http://www.nasa.gov/grail/

They think it is a waste of money and time. The president said that we already went, there is no reason to go again. O_o
