I know we don't get many full moons, but when I was driving home from work this evening, it has been the hugest I've ever seen it, something doesn't seem right. I'm in NC, in the Piedmont triad area. I've seen full moons before, but this one just looks bigger.

It's just you. We get a Full Moon every 29,5 days, and they are all essentially the same size. You are the victim of an optical illusion known as the Moon illusion: look it up in Wikipedia.

The Moon was near the horizon when you saw it.
The mind makes an optical illusion when seeing the Moon near the horizon. You see Earthly objects look smaller at far distances so the Moon (although the same angular diameter) seems large compared to those tiny distant objects.

The moon's orbit is not a perfect circle, so there are times when its a bit closer to the Earth than other times.
But generally, the moon appearing large is an optical illusion.
