Why US build international space station

Now if the country you want to run is going to be like China, I would not want to live in it.I will remain safe and happier in the USA, while looking up at the ISS orbiting over my house (which will NOT be bulldozed by some local official on the take for some ridiculous factory).......
If I were US president, I will build my own.....Just Like China Space Station which is ongoing....

We *did* have original plans to build a US-owned space station - called 'Freedom' - but, it was scrapped in the late 1980's, early 90's because of costs. Partnering with Russia, Europe, and Japan, the US cost was at least realistic, and frankly - built a better station. Russia's experience with long-term space flight and it's equipment it had already built for it's Mir station meant we wouldn't have to re-invent many items, saving additional money.

It was hoped to spread the cost. Since China has no programs for curbing industrial pollution, elevating 70% of its population from oppressive poverty, and is rich from peddling its inferior industrial output (it's totally garbage) worldwide while conducting espionage (both industrial and military) and ignoring international laws on copyrights, it has plenty of cash for a space station of its own.
Now if the country you want to run is going to be like China, I would not want to live in it. I will remain safe and happier in the USA, while looking up at the ISS orbiting over my house (which will NOT be bulldozed by some local official on the take for some ridiculous factory).
