I know that citrate is a negative regulator of of phosphofructokinase, which means that it slows down the glycolysis pathway. Glycolysis slows when there is increased ATP in the body, but I'm not sure why exactly this is advantageous. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Well, I think if someone had TOO much ATP and they didn't need it, it would just go to waste. All I can offer is the probable extra sugar that might come with consumption of something that has citrate in it.
