Atheists: Did the universe come from nothing

Did matter come from nothing? Did energy come from nothing? Did stars and the principals of stellar fusion come from nothing? Did the first universe come from nothing? Did laws like gravity and density come from nothing? If energy infinitely existed, and is natural, how can this be so? All things natural are bound by time and space and the only reason God is infinite in time is because He is supernatural and outside His own creation of time and space. I'm starting to think that...maybe the purple unicorn beast creating the illusions atheists perceive when it comes to natural things coming from nothing.

You appear to be very confused about basic science. I'd suggest you try taking a few classes. We have several ideas for how the universe started, and none of them involve everything springing up from nothing. That's a creationist idea, not a scientific one. No, no one wants to debate you about this if you won't learn the basics. Also, putting your email address and asking them to is technically against the rules of the website.

What I feel strongly about is people coming here and addressing us as "atheists". Some of us are, some of us aren't. When you lump everyone interested in astronomy as "atheists", then badly misquote a theory, you make it harder for those of us who are both religious and interested in astronomy to not be labeled as nutters. Thanks ever so much for that.

If you think the Big Bang theory is the domain of atheists, you really need to read something about Georges Lemaître, who came up with the original idea behind it. It didn't seem to detract from his work as a priest.

In fact, both science and religion are in the wrong when it comes to Genesis and The Big Bang Theory. It's like a Coke versus Pepsi debate...something from nothing magic seed or breath of god, etc., etc.. Thanks to The Internet and spreading common sense around the world, new ideas are taking the place of the old myths and mystical stuff.
