draw a line 3 cm from a point to the left and other 4cm from the same point to the right.. total length being 7 cms.smallest is when they are in same direction. ie 3-4 0r 4-3 both equal 1 unit net displacement. follow the same procedure above but in this case 4 cm line overlaps the 3 cm one.......
Hi pals, I have a physics question I Dnt solve so here it is:
What is the largest possible displacement resulting from two displacements with magnitudes 3 meters and 4 meters? What is the smallest possible resultant? Draw sketches to demonstrate your answers (no need for that here :P) thanks in advance!

largest possible is when they are in exactly opposite directions. ie 3+4=7, draw a line 3 cm from a point to the left and other 4cm from the same point to the right.. total length being 7 cms.

smallest is when they are in same direction. ie 3-4 0r 4-3 both equal 1 unit net displacement. follow the same procedure above but in this case 4 cm line overlaps the 3 cm one.
