x² + 4x - 21 = 0
(x + 7)(x - 3) = 0

If the product of two factors equals zero, then one or both factors equal zero.

If x + 7 = 0,
x = - 7

If x - 3 = 0,
x = 3

x { - 7, 3 }

1) X^2+4x-21=0
2) factors to: (x+7)(x-3)=0
3) so, x would equal -7 and 3.

Plug it in to make sure :D

(x + 7)(x - 3)=0

x + 7 =0 , x=-7 ; x-3=0, x=3

(x-3)(x+7)=0
x=3,-7

(x+7)(x-3)=0
x=-7 or x=3
