is constrained to rotate about its axis of symmetry .the only torque about this axis of rotation results from a person 's pulling on and unwinding a string(constant tension =3.0 N) that is wound around the periphery of the cylinder.

a) calculate the net torque about the axis rotation.
b)what is the moment of inertia of the cylinder about the axis rotation?
c)determine the angular acceleration of the cylinder.

a) τ = FXr
=>τ = F x r x sinθ
=>τ = 3 x 0.12 x sin90*
=>τ = 3.6 N-m
b) I = 1/2mr^2
=>I = 1/2 x 20 x (0.12)^2
=>I = 0.144 kg-m^2
c) By τ = Iα
=>α = τ/I
=>α = 3.6/0.144
=>α = 25 rad/sec^2
