A bullet of mass 20 gram travelling with a velocity of 16m/s penetrates a sand bag and is brought to rest in 0.05 seconds.Find the depth of penetration and average retarding force of the sand.

F . 0.05 = 16 . 0.020

F = 6.4 N

a = F/m = 6.4 / 0.02 = 320 m/s/s

d = v^2 / 2 . a = 16^2 / 2 . 320 = 16 / 2 . 20 = 0.4 m
