He then continues north, traveling 130 km in 2.00 h. (a) What is his total displacement? (b) What is his average velocity?-a) the 1st distance(displacement) he will travel is =v*t=(85/60)*35=49.......
It's not much, but I don't know crap. Please, can someone answer and explain the question?

-- A motorist drives north for 35.0 minutes at 85.0 km/h and then stops for 15.0 minutes. He then continues north, traveling 130 km in 2.00 h. (a) What is his total displacement? (b) What is his average velocity?

-
a) the 1st distance(displacement) he will travel is =v*t=(85/60)*35=49.58 Km..
and 2nd distance(displacement) =130 km
so the total disp. becomes =130+49.58=179.58=180 km

b) then the avg velocity is given by
Vav= total disp. / total time taken
= 180/ (35+15+120) [2 hrs = 120 minutes...so total time becomes 35+15+120 ]
=1.06 km/ min
=63.5 km/hr

-
a) Displacement is the total distance traveled from the starting point. 35.0 minutes is equal to 35.0/60 = .583 hours. In the first leg of the trip, the motorist went (.583 hours)(85.0 km/hour) = 49.6 km. In the second leg of the trip he just sits there for 15 minutes, so he goes 0 km. Finally, he travels 130 km. So, the total displacement is 49.6 km + 0 km + 130 km = 179.6 km.

b) Average velocity is given by the total displacement over the time taken. We know the displacement, so now we must find the total time taken on the trip: 35.0 minutes + 15.0 minutes + 120 minutes = 170 minutes. 179.6 km / 170 minutes = 1.06 km/minute

-
Total displacement=0.63333*85+130=179.583 km
35 min=35/60= .63 hours
Average velocity= 179.583/(.6333+.25+2)=63.38 km/h

-
85 plus 130

b. 85 plus 130 / 35 plus 15 plus 120 minues convert to km / h
