Is ratman from portal 2 alive

I hear he died when shell johnson blew up glados in the first game but yet I hear hes still alive, does anyone know?

Probably. He escapes after Chell does, but follows her back into the lab after the escort robot drags her back. He puts himself in a powered cryo-unit after this happens; though we don't know what happens to him after that.
