Where do oxygen and hydrogen atoms go when water is split during photosynthesis

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-11-27] [Hit: ]
the hydrogens are usually used to replace those ejected from the chlorophyll molecule. The oxygen is released as a waste product. If this is not in your text, you need a better book.........
Where do the electrons from the water do during this process? What is reduction?

I appreciate any help with any part of this question! I can't seem to find it in my textbook or in google searches.

Okay the electrons which are gained from the photolysis of water are used to replace the electron lost from PS2 (photosynthesis 2).

Remember photosystem 2 gave it's electron to PS1 (photosystem 1).

Reduction is when something gains an electron, it has been reduced. the electron carrier in photosynthesis is NADP+

That gets reduced to NADPH

Depending on the pathway, the hydrogens are usually used to replace those ejected from the chlorophyll molecule. The oxygen is released as a waste product.

If this is not in your text, you need a better book...
