Children playing with my cat at night

I got a cat a few months back, and since then, I'll wake up from my sleep in the middle of the night due to my cat running around the house, playing with his toys, etc. However, one night I heard giggling, like little kids, but I thought nothing of it, just thought it was my mind playing tricks on my ears and went back to sleep. Now it is happening more and more frequently, and last weekend a friend was over and she told me she thought she heard the TV on, and when going into more detail, she said it sounded like kids talking/playing. I told her about what I heard too, and it seems to coincide with my cat's night time playing. So last night I locked my cat up in my bedroom with me and around 1-2 in the morning I thought I heard him pawing at the door to go out, but he was curled up at my feet, so I laid back down. About 5 minutes later I heard the "pawing" at the door and what kind of sounded like a moan. My friend seems to think I might have the spirit of a child or children in my house, or that the cat has some connection to them, but I am not fully convinced it isn't just my mind playing tricks on me from waking from my sleep.

What should I do? I don't know if I believe in ghosts or not, but I can tell you, this is kind of weird and a little creepy.

Cats see things better than us, actually animals do, even when im alone in the room and its quiet my gerbil will start tapping and totally freak out. It was in my old house where my room had something in it. My mum once looked at her cat, it was staring behind her and hissing then it ran off. Ive also had cats in my old house come in and look at something in the hallway and wander over to it, transfixed. Very odd. There's nothing wrong with children in your house, why dont you sit down, when it's quiet and speak to them, say hi, tell them you know they're here, ask them about their cat/your cat, i know it sounds stupid but you might get something more from them. Put something, like a cross on paper, draw around the cross with a pen and leave it in the room and see if it moves. Dont worry though, spirits are real, ive seen things you wouldnt believe, they do exist. Children wont cause you any problems.

I agree with your friend. This may sound crazy but the cat may be connected to another cat that has passed that is connected to spirit children and they all visit the cat. Sorry spirits are real. Your cat is not in danger children spirits are usually good spirits. You had mentioned that you locked the cat in the room with you and you heard pawing at the door. That was possibly a spirit if it wasnt your cat.
