Liquid is a state of matter in which the molecules cling to each other but not strongly enough in which they are afraid to switch partners. The result is molecules dancing around, breaking intermolecular bonds readily, but always finding a new molecule to attach to, if only for a brief moment before moving on. This results in a material that is cohesive, resulting in a constant overall volume, but fluid, readily being dragged down by gravity to fill a container. When subjected to external stresses, it can flow, as a little push prompts the molecules to continue their incessant dance and partner switching in the suggested direction. Well, that's how I see a liquid.

Its not solid, its not a gas...maybe just maybe its the state of matter between the two. Kind of like an atomic sauce. speaking of sauce have you ever had that sauce they cook cocktail wieners in? It looks like ketchup, tastes like ketchup, but brother, it ain't ketchup!

what makes a liquid different from a solid or a gas?
if H2O is the same chemical why do we have ice, water and steam?
