Agree WW2 myth because we had RADAR and didn't want the germans to find out how we could 'see' their aeroplanes at night.
However, carrots and other veg (inc tomato) aid vision development.
2 main receptors in eyes, rods and cones. Rods use dim light and if they are healthy you have better night vision. Loss of most colour is normal, but to say green like NVG would rely on imagination taking over to aid vision.
In pitch black, memory takes over and what you 'see' is whatever you remember.
Stop stressing, go enjoy.

This is actually a myth which was introduced during WW2. Kids were told to consume carrots to 'see in the dark' for the purpose of spotting fighter planes, in particular it was a famous pilot who fronted this. It is true that carrots may aid in visual health but otherwise not enough to see in the dark or make a significant difference to your eye-sight.

Well, Carrots have a chemical that our eyes need to see in dim light. If we are short of this substance, I suppose that eating carrots would bring your eyes back to "normal"
