I've been on a few different meds for depression/anxiety/bipolar.. and I'm currently on Zoloft. I've been taking this medication now for two years and it has helped me greatly, but I also think there must be some other way for me to cope. I feel like it was prescribed to me too easily, and I may not even need it.

I feel like I should try natural remedies, because I feel like I'm poisoning my body and I hate supporting corrupt pharmaceutical companies. Has anyone had a similar diagnosis and found a better form of treatment, other than prescription medication?

If you feel like you can cope without medication, you need to speak to the Doc who prescribed the medication to you and tell them why you feel this way. They may refer you to a counselor, nutritionist or psychiatrist to help you do this without medication. If your Dr tells you stay on the medication ask why and don't be afraid to get a second opinion.

I was put on medication for severe anxiety and I wish I never took it. I felt abnormal and not like myself. After doing more research and asking around, I found ways to cope without medication. The Doc wanted me on a cocktail of pills but I got a second opinion and I'm happy I did!

Don't get me wrong, medication is good for some people and it does work. But it's not for everyone. There are other options.

I believe that you have a chemical imbalance in the brain. I see no other alternative than to keep taking it unless you can afford therapy.

Therapy is the only natural remedy. Even when you choose to proceed with therapy, the Psychiatrist may choose to keep you on. Theres no better treatment for anxiety/depression/bipolar disorders than therapy with medications. They work together.
