PEOPLE WITH CARS... come to my aidddd please lol... or math geniuses or both...

I have a full time job, with work being approx. 9 minutes away. The roads I would be driving on going to work would have speed limits mostly of between 30 and 50. Also assume that Ill go out at least a little on the weekends. Whats a good estimation on how much gas I would be spending a week?......
Okay, sooo.
For my economics project we have to create a budget and if we have a car in our hypothetical life, gas has to be a part of it.

I (hypothetically) have a 2006 Honda Civic Coupe that gets 26 MPG with city driving and 34 MPG with highway driving. I have a full time job, with work being approx. 9 minutes away. The roads I would be driving on going to work would have speed limits mostly of between 30 and 50. Also assume that I'll go out at least a little on the weekends. What's a good estimation on how much gas I would be spending a week? Pleaseee try to help. I just can't figure it out. :(

to and from work 5 days/week = 5*2*distance

distance = speed * time
d = 40mph * 9min * 1hr/60min = 360/60 = 6 miles

weekly d = 10*6 = 60 miles

60miles / 26mpg = 2.31 gal
60miles / 34 mpg = 1.76 gal
estimate 60 mi / 30 mph = 2.0 gal for commuting

60 miles /48 mpg = 1.25 gal
60 miles /45 mpg = 1.33 gal
estimate 1.3 gal for commuting

if you drive another 60 miles on weekends or stopping somewhere after work, double those amounts

at $4/gal, the Honda will cost $16/wk for 4 gallons
the Prius will cost $10.40

2 gallons a week for going to and from work for your original, about 1.5 gallons for the Prius. You can decide how far you want to go on the weekends :)
