I was prescribed "hydroco/apap" or Vicodin for my cellulitis of the ear. It helped the first time I took it, but every time I've taken it after that, it does not work. If anything, it just makes me feel worse.

your body got used to it. this is how people get addicted to it. they wind up needing more and more of it.

One ingredient in this product is acetaminophen. Taking too much acetaminophen may cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disease. Adults should not take more than 4000 milligrams (4 grams) of acetaminophen a day.Since you have been taking hydroco/apap for a long time, get medical help right away if you have any symptoms of liver damage, including: dark urine, persistent nausea/vomiting, stomach/abdominal pain, extreme tiredness, or yellowing eyes/skin.While Hydrocodone is a synthetic opioid, it is an orally active narcotic analgesic (pain reliever) and antitussive (cough suppressant).Hydrocodone is always combined with another medication. Those combined with paracetamol (acetaminophen) are known by various trademark names, such as Vicodin and Lortab. Hydrocodone also can be combined with aspirin, so you have to change the combined medication with Hydrocodone.Try its combination with Aspirin this time.

Some people seem not to respond to it well. It makes me sick to my stomach. Darvocet worked but they took it off the market because people were misusing it (taking it with other anti-inflammatory). I've tried taking more Hydrocodone as other answerers have suggested. It just makes me sicker.
