you get grossed out by the basic dissection of a human being? If you were genuinely interested in medicine and health then you would be more fascinated to see a dissection wouldn't you? or are the people who are grossed out just there because mummy and daddy paid for it?

I've known a few M.D./Ph D.s who wanted to direct medical research, but were squeamish. Sometimes medical school is a means to an end--a field you like that does not involve the things you do not like. I've known several surgeons who hated the anatomy because of the smell of the preservatives, but powered through because they needed the knowledge. Most surgical patients do not smell of preservatives. Sometimes curiosity can be a greater motivator than inherent revulsion of things. There is nothing that prevents simultaneous fascination and disgust.

Doctors are human, too. There is no reason to believe that a doctor WOULD NOT get grossed out -- unless he is going to be a surgeon or an ER specialist, or something like that. ALL students will have to overcome it, but only for one or two classes, and NOT for their total career.
There are MANY medical careers which never see blood or anything gross.

My brother is in the surgical field and he says that sometimes there are things that gross him out, but some people can just stomach things better than others.
