Why do killer whales mate

Im just wondering

They are driven by hormones to do so. But, ultimately, it is the rule of the game we call life. Organisms that do not reproduce will become extinct, if they have a limited life span. There is no way around this fact. Therefore, many organisms have evolved hormones that drive them to reproduce. It is the same way with surnames. Surnames will become extinct if people who bear a particular surname do not have enough male descendants.

"Assume, as was taken for granted in Galton's time, that surnames are passed on to all male children by their father. Suppose the number of a man's sons to be a random variable distributed on the set { 0, 1, 2, 3, ... }. Further suppose the numbers of different men's sons to be independent random variables, all having the same distribution.

Then the simplest substantial mathematical conclusion is that if the average number of a man's sons is 1 or less, then their surname will almost surely die out, and if it is more than 1, then there is more than zero probability that it will survive for any given number of generations."

All those people talking about "reproduction" and "survival of the species" are definitely wrong... CLEARLY its Sea World's fault! Sea World is forcing the killer whales to do the dirty deed, so that they will always have a fresh supply of Shamu's...

To make MORE orcas, or (if you must), "killer whales"...

If they didn't mate, they'd be extinct!

They need babies to keep their rave living .. It's instinct to every living thing to mate :)

Think about it. Why did your parents mate? To have a kid right?
