I (stupidly) stopped taking the pills without consulting my doctor. I was so busy with life and I didnt want to feel dizzy anymore or get fired. I got very depressed all over again and I took up smoking. Its been months since I stopped taking the pills, and I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor. I Want to ask him about Wellbutrin because I heard it also helps smokers quit,......
I was put on an anti-depressant months ago, Citalopram to be exact. In September i started noticing major yawning going on. I even got in trouble at work because the boss told me my constant yawning was unprofessional. Ontop of that I've gained weight, and I felt dizzy driving. I (stupidly) stopped taking the pills without consulting my doctor. I was so busy with life and I didn't want to feel dizzy anymore or get fired. I got very depressed all over again and I took up smoking. Its been months since I stopped taking the pills, and I have an appointment tomorrow with my doctor. I Want to ask him about Wellbutrin because I heard it also helps smokers quit, or curb the urge. Any advice? Do you think he'll prescribe it to me? By me taking myself off the first prescription without consulting him first stop him from prescribing me anti-depressants again? Ugh i feel so paranoid. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Really, you should never stop taking medication without talking to your doctor. But I know that sometimes the side effects are not worth taking the medication to feel better. However, just because you stopping taking it (especially since it was because of the side effects) will not typically stop a doctor from trying to help you. If it does, then you definitely need to find a different doctor.

Just be brutely honest with your about how it was making you feel and what your current needs are (no yawning, no smoking, and no depression, etc.).

FYI -- Your boss "technically" cannot fire you for yawning, especially if it is your medication causing it...it is against the law to fire someone for a medical condition!

Hope this helps.
