Can massage therapists diagnose

Usually, the obvious diagnosis is the correct one, and the obvious diagnosis is that he has muscle soreness (and possibly injury) from working out.CTS produces pain and paresthesias in the hand, and is caused by inflammation of the median nerve as it passes under the flexor retinaculum in the wrist. Its not going to produce symptoms proximal to the area of inflammation.......
My question may sound stupid but I'm only in high school. My brother's friend is a massage therapist. He just started exercising and said his arm felt sore. So he asked his friend to massage his arm and back. She told him that he must have carpel tunnel syndrome because of the knots in his arm. I told him to see a physician for a diagnosis but he insists that she is right.

No, and your example is a great reason why.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is not going to produce knots in the arm. That (incorrect) diagnosis is not based on knowledge of the anatomy of the wrist, does not take into account what the symptoms of CTS are, and if he does coincidentally have CTS, it won't be helped by a massage.

The massage therapist's 7 months of training do not put her on the same level as a physician, with 11-15+ years of training. She needs to shut her mouth and do what she was trained to do.

Lol no! A massage therapist goes to school for a few months at most....or are you talking about a physical therapist. Massage therapist have no medical training what so ever. And fyi, carpel tunnel is in your hands. NOT in your arm or back. Your friend is just sore from working out.

NO. They cant diagnose.

At best they can massage "as prescribed by a medical practitioner."

Diagnosing requires education based training and practice as undergone by doctors.

-
No. Massage therapists are not doctors. They can't diagnose illness or prescribe medication. However, they are trained to recognize signs of an illness and suggest that you see your physician.
Hope this helps!

-
No, they cannot. It's illegal; the term is "practicing medicine without a license."

All the best.
