In the womb we breathe amniotic fluid, is it possible for an adult human to breathe a similar liquid?
-
We don't really breathe in the womb- we receive oxygenated blood from our mother via the umbilical cord.
If you tried to breathe a liquid you would still get some gas transfer, but because liquids such as water are so dense you wouldn't be able to exhale properly to force the water out and you'd drown.

you probably couldn't drink liquid o2, which is what it would have to be. Your tongue would freeze and you'd be in excruciating pain.
-
the Navy has worked on this as it would help divers go deeper
but as yet they don't seem to have a working liquid
