I have just been put on Venlafaxine for depression and I have always had memory loss problems and my doctor says that this pill will help with my depression and memory loss but from what I read online this pill actually can cause memory loss.. So has anyone else taken this and had problems with this?

I am a pharmacy student, and I also have depression and on venlafaxine (the Immediate release not the ER) as well as a few other antidepressants. First off let me assure you that the previous commenter 'tom' is a nitwit talking about medications, pharmacology, and pathophysiology which he doesn't have a clue about, so ignore him please.
The most commonly seen side effects with venlafaxine are nausea, constipation, sedation, dry mouth, insomnia, dizziness, sweating, sexual dysfunction, elevated diastolic blood pressure.
That being said most people tolerate the medication very well and these side effects are not particularly common.
As for the memory loss, I've never heard of it, and looking through one of the reliable drug references I have with me I don't see any mention of it, even very rarely. I really wouldn't worry about it, firstly anyone can post anything online so take what you read at face value. Also memory problems are fairly commonly associated with depression, I know I have been having some the past few months that have been impacting my grades :-( anyway I've been on venlafaxine a few weeks and it seems to be starting to work (it does typically take 4-6 weeks to reach its full effect, so don't stop taking it) and my memory seems to have improved, though one persons experience really shouldn't hold much weight scientifically speaking.
Bottom line don't stress about it, even if a very very small number of people do experience memory loss it is far far more likely that you will benefit from the medication and your memory will improve. Hope you feel better soon

Don't take medication they are actually created from a company which meets business needs. So your buying medicine thinking it heals you and it does for the moment, but then you will find you may get addicted or suffer from problems later in life.
I have no experience of that medication but I have got experience of depression. One way which I did not look at maybe to look at natural organic herbal medication that may heal you. I chose to do yoga breathing exercises also known as pranayama and asanas for stretches. This might sound funny but a friend pointed them out to me on youtube and I have not looked back since.
If you are feeling depressed or need to talk to someone just go onto my profile and message me.
