Vitamin c overdose??

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-04-22] [Hit: ]
60 mg is the recommended daily allowance (RDA) So this means if you took 600 mg that would be ten times the RDA. 500 mg pills are easy to find.Twenty times the RDA would be 1200 mg (600 x 2), an amount I might take if I felt a cold coming on.Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is water soluble (Hydrophilic), and the excess is flushed right out of you.......
Is it possible? Since it's hydrophilic it's supposed that the extra is being expelled. Im asking because the last 24 hours got more than 20 times the daily dose.

First of all, Do Not Panic !!!!! :D

According to these Vitamin C drops I found, 60 mg is the recommended daily allowance (RDA) So this means if you took 600 mg that would be ten times the RDA. 500 mg pills are easy to find.

Twenty times the RDA would be 1200 mg (600 x 2), an amount I might take if I felt a cold coming on.

Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) is water soluble (Hydrophilic), and the excess is flushed right out of you. If you took more than 1200 mg you might experience some diarrhea, but that would be about it.

Do NOT do this with some vitamins which are fat soluble, and which stick around much longer in the body !

Technically you cannot overdose on vitamin c. However, large doses may have unpleasant effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, stomachache, headache and blushing. Just stay hydrated, and you will be all right.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is water-soluble. What you take that your body doesn't need is excreted in urine.

There have been instances of chronic overuse causing kidney damage, although I do not have specifics.
