If your go to the doctors for a drug test

my mom told me shes taking me to the doctors for a drug test. if i test positive what happens? what can the doctors do?

First, DaddyRx is correct. If you are a minor, your mom get's the results of any tests. However, if you have not used most drugs, 4 days later you will not test positive (drugs in this category include heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, alcohol, and barbiturates). If you smoke week regularly you will test positive on a urine test for up to 3 months. If you some very occasionally (like one a week) and you have not smoked in 1-2 weeks, it is unlikely that you will test positive. For all of the drugs mentioned this is for urine testing only. In blood, all of the most common abused illegal drugs will be out of your system in about 1-2 days. So....if you are underage, and if your physician takes a blood or urine sample, that where you are. In terms of legal issues, the MD has no legal authority and will not call the police and get you in trouble (legally) and neither can your mother. A test showing that you have used a drug in the past is not a crime unless you are on some kind of probation.

Your mom is full of sh*t. The doctors can't share your drug test results with her because it would violate patient confidentiality. When teenage girls go in for a birth control prescription the doctor can't tell the parents about it even if they are under 18 so why would a doctor be able to test you for drugs and tell your parents? Plus most doctors aren't in the business of testing for drugs unless they work at some sort of drug testing clinic where companies send their employees to get drug tested. There are home tests for drugs you can get off the internet to test your kids for drugs but a doctor has nothing to do with those. Your mom is just trying to scare you.

Nothing, the doctors dont do anything.
You dont get in trouble with the hospital or the police( well the police unless its scheduled because of them), you just get in trouble with your parents, apparently if they're taking you for a drug test.

If your mother is taking you and requesting the test, she gets the results. Unless you're legally an adult or emancipated minor.
