3x² + 4x + 4 = 0

I am going to solve this by completing the square. Before I do Read/Study this example
You were taught to take 1/2 of "b", then square that result and add it to both sides.
In this problwm you have to divide by "a" first. Notice this creates a fraction with the -3.
Here is a method not taught anymore. NO FRACTIONS till the last step.
2x² - 4x - 3 = 0
ax^2+bx+c=0
In this problem a=2 and b=-3
Here is what you do:
Multiply every term by 4a..........4a=....4(2)=..............8
Add b^2....................................b…
8(2x² - 4x - 3 = 0)
16x^2-32x-24=0
16x^2-32x=+24
16x^2-32x+9=+24+9.....You just created a Perfect Square Trinomial which is the pupose
......................................… Completing The Square................Now factor the left side
(4x-3)^2=33
sqrt[(4x-3)^2]="+-"sqrt(33)
4x-3="+-"sqrt(33)
4x=+3"+-"sqrt(33).................Now divide by 4.........creating your first fraction

X=******************..................… you are finished

Mult by 4a = 4(3) = 12

Add b² = (4)² = 16

36x² + 48x + ... = - 48

36x² + 48x + 16 = - 48 + 16

(6x + 4)² = - 32

√(6x + 4)² = +- √-32...................√-32 = √-16*√2 = 4i√2

6x + 4 = +- 4i√2.............Divide ALL by 2

3x + 2 = +- 2i√2

3x = - 2 +- 2i√2

........- 2 +- 2i√2
x = ----------------.......ANSWERS
