it must be given relative to some reference, like the X axis or the compass.Its clear you are not seeing how vectors work.I suggest you get an ace in your class to help you understand vectors and vector math.......
You walk 250 newtons N then 575 newtons W find the magnitude and direction of the resultant vector?

i got 627 for the magnitude
and 39 degrees for th angle is this correct

-
Square root of (250²) + (575²) = 626.996
=627N

For the angle I got
Theta = Tan-1(575/250)
Theta = 66.5 degrees

-
Yes.

No, really. Some of your numbers are correct, but your units are all wrong.

One does not "walk" newtons. Newtons are an arcane force unit. And force doesn't walk anywhere.

One can walk some distance pushing, for example, a wheelbarrow with a force of 250 N or 575 N for each of the distances...and thus expend some energy (work). Or you can have an object where there is 250 N pushing north and 575 N pushing west on it. But no walking here either.

627 N at theta = ATAN(250/(-575)) = -23.5 deg shy of west or 293.5 deg on the compass is the resulting force vector. So your angle is wrong as well as your units. Also note, when you give an angle, it must be given relative to some reference, like the X axis or the compass.

It's clear you are not seeing how vectors work. I suggest you get an ace in your class to help you understand vectors and vector math.
