this topic is all about calculating the probability using grids and tables. (as in something like calculating probability of all possible sets of heads and tails combinations with three coins etc.)
but i still don't get this question or how to do it:
one bag contains one red, and one white snooker ball.
a second bag contains one brown, one green and one yellow ball.
a third bag contains one blue, one pink and one black ball.
list all the possible sets of three balls which can arise when one ball is selected selected from each bag at random. (<-- here i can tell that we need to use tables)
calculate the probability that thre three balls selected will include the red and the black ball.
so my main question is, how many 'tables' do i need to draw? and how do i put the titles on either the horizontal or verticle columns?
thank you in advance! it's really important! (:

it's hard to show you the tables since we can't draw it here, but I can solve it and you can figure out how to put it all on the table.
First, you have to find the same size which is all the possible combinations.
2*3*3 = 18
which you can show by drawing.
First you select either Red or White.
IF you select Red, then you can pick the second bag which contain either (brown, green or yellow)
now do that for all possibilities.
Say you pick R, then get Yellow, the 3rd can be either (blue, pink, or black)
etc.
so all the combination you can get is 18 total.
once you do that, you can find which combination include a Red and Black Ball. (for example N times)
you can calculate the probability of that by dividing it by the sample size (18).
So N / 18 = your probability that you will get a red and black ball.
The answer should be 3/18 = 1/6 chance
