If the question is (3x)^4 you would do 3^4 times x^4 so the problem would turn into 81x^4

-
(a b)^c = a^c * b^c

(a^b)^c = a^(bc)

Your example

(3x)^4 = 3^4 x^4 = 81 x^4

. . . note that (3x)*4 is NOT the same as 3 x^4

-
B ^ C

b raised to the power of c

?

Use logs
4^x = 16
Log4(16)=x. That is log base 4 of 16 equals x. That means log base 10(if you press the button only) to get it how I have put in log/log(4)
