The animal cell membrane allows the cell to move about because of its structure.
The cell membrane is semi-permeable,which means that it's able to let some substances through. But during the cell's movement, this protects the insides of the cell from being squashed, keeping its shape. The cytoskeleton also helps keep the cells strong shape, so that the shape doesn't change during movement.
Finally, this benefits its movement because it will protect the cell from changing shape or bursting.

Animal cell membranes are not restricted by cell walls, unlike those of plants, fungi, and bacteria, so they are quite flexible and able to move easily. However, they are also rather fragile, as a consequence.
