If the father is actually 188 cm tall, how tall is the daughter?--my answer is 74.2.) A crew consists of 1 apprentice, 1journeyman,......
1.) In a photograph of a father and his daughter, the daughter's height s 2.3 cm and the father's height is 5.8cm. If the father is actually 188 cm tall, how tall is the daughter?--my answer is 74.55172414cm

2.) A crew consists of 1 apprentice, 1journeyman, and 1 master carpenter. the crew receives a check for 4200 dollars for a job they just finished. A journeyman makes 200% of what an apprentice makes and a master makes 150% of what a journeyman makes. How much does each person in the crew earn. -I have trouble with this, I tried to solve this my answer is apprentice=1400, journeyman=2800, master carpenter=4200. their total earning is more than 4200. please help.

3. John paid $330 for a new mountain bike to sell in his shop. he wants to price it so that he can offer a 10% discount and still make 20% of the price he paid for it. At what price should the bike marked? - no idea. help please.. hahaha

4. If the cost of a new car is $12000(plus 5% sales tax) and downpayment of 20% (including the tax) is required, How much moneywill a customer need to drive out in a new car? -my answer is $14400. But i doubt it is correct..

5. A refrigirator was on sale at the appliance store for 20%off. Marcus received a coupon from the store for an additional 30% off any current price in the store. If he uses the coupon to buy the refrigirator, the price would be $487.20 before taxes. What was the original price? -still solving..

1. Correct! Good job!
2. So the apprentice makes "x," journeyman makes "2x," and the master makes "3x." x + 2x +3x = 4200. x = 700. The apprentice made 700, the journeyman made 1400, and the master carpenter made 2100. (check: 700 +1400 +2100 = 4200)
3. Let's set the price he's going to set the bike at "x." So, .9x = 330*1.2. x = $440.
4. Wait, are you saying that the 12000 does NOT include the tax? If so, then the answer is 2520. (Just saying, your answer is impossible. Down payments are always LESS than the actual cost.)
5. 487 = .7x (if "x" is the price after the original SALE) x = 695.71. x = .8y (if "y" Is the original price) y = 869.64

Your first answer is correct. You just set up a proportion and solve. I would round to nearest tenth of a cm.

You are not solving percent problems correctly. Problem #4, for example, is asking for how much down-payment the car purchaser has to have. Can't be more than the car! Total cost of car is found by:
12,000 + 0.05(12,000) = 12,600
Now take 20% of 12,600 (.20 x 12,600)
