Since it is Central Daylight Time (UTC -5:00) where I live until Sunday, October 30, 2011, would it be a mistake saying a certain interview is at 9:00am Central Standard Time (-6:00)? Would it cause the interviewer to show up an hour early?

If the interview is going to be summer, then go by CDT.
If the interview is going to be during the winter (after daylight savings) then use CST.
It's just a bit simpler to put it like that. If you refer to the correct time standard for when the interview will be (which, btw, you did not say), then you will not have problems such as these. The only problem is that we don't always remember exactly what day summer ends and begins, but as long as you double check there will be no problems.
If the interview is going to take place before October 30th and you have already spoken to the person and told them the time of the meeting is 9:00 am CST, then simply contact them again and politely clarify that you meant to say CDT. If you know where the person is from, figure out the time difference and tell them what it is to help them out, because it will make it simpler for the person. Just don't do it in a way that makes it sound condescending.
If the person is from an area in CST/CDT region, then there isn't going to be a huge problem, because the time on both of your watches and clocks is going to be the same and they are just going to ignore whether you said CDT or CST anyways (if they know you are in the same time zone).
