so im trying to replace th bridge pick up and i connected th black and white wires together then taped them off and im pretty sure im putting th hot wire (red) into th correct spot in th guitar circuit ( its in th hot part of th switch on the correct side where th bridge is supposed to be connect) btu my trouble comes in when determining where to connect the green and bare wires which are th ground. I tried twisting those 2 wires together then twisting them with th neck ground ( at least i think its th ground on my diagram it has th wires in blue with a "-" sign) but when i soldered them to th ground on th guitar switch only the neck produced a sound when i tested it. i looked around onlien and read somethign about th back of th volume pot being another possibility th ground goes but idk what tht is (fairly new to guitars) any help please XC

The back of the volume control is fine for the ground connection. The diMarzio support diagram is at http://www.dimarzio.com/sites/default/fi… and the ground points are clearly marked on the potentiometer tags and the back of the volume controls. The text at the bottom of the diagram confirms you are connecting the correct wires on the pickup together.
Just popped the back off my G400 and the blue wires are screened. The screens (outer part of the cable) are all grounded to the backs of the volume or tone controls. The white coloured inners go to their various signal paths. So you can easily solder the green/bare wire pair to one of the blue cable screens (NOT the white inner). Email me if you get stuck.
