I keep hearing about pH level, having to do with Acids and Bases, but I don't know what that is?

pH level is the measure of the acidity or alkaline of a liquid.
Acids will burn through stuff, depending on how strong they are. If you were to put it on your skin, it would be instant pain and burns.
Bases will do the same, but slower -- you don't feel the pain right away or see burns on the skin.
How fast the acid/base will affect your skin depends on it's strength, from a scale from 0 to 14.
0 to 6 = acid
7 = neutral
8 to 14 = base/alkaline
You can also cancel out the affect that acids and bases have, meaning that if you had, for example, an acidic solution, by adding an alkaline solution you would be able to make it neutral, like water is.

Ph is a logarithmic measure of the acidity and bases. The actual scale is backwards, in that a low ph is an acid, and a high ph is a base. The scale being logarithmic also gives that the "strength" is exponential in change. So for example, stomach acid has a ph of 1 to 2, relatively safe in our stomach. Battery acid is in the .05 to 1 range, which as you should know is extremely dangerous.

pH is a value that represents the concentration of H+ in solution on a logarithmic scale. A low pH (pH less than 7) indicates an acidic solution. A pH of 7 indicates a neutral solution. A high pH (pH greater than 7) indicates a basic solution.
pH = -log[H+]
pH = -log[H+]

pH is a measure of acidity. The lower the pH, the more acidic, so pH1 is the most acidic and pH14 is the most alkaline. pH7 is neutral.

Ph level shows how high or low the acidity level is. High on ph level means it is an acid. Low on a ph level means it is a base
