You can think of Time as "causality." Meaning that in order to make something happen, such as water to boil for Tea, you first have to turn on the stove, put water in the pot and place it on the stove. The water won't boil unless you do these steps. Causality. You can't be born unless your parents meet first, etc. This isn't time, but its a way of judging time. Meaning that things don't happen unless you do them in order. A plane won't fall out of the sky until its off the runway, etc.
Cause and Effect. Time's Arrow.
Think of Time as a way for Humans to THINK. NOW is really just a few microseconds long, but without NOW/the Present, how would we form our thoughts? We created a Time as a way of taking our thoughts, stringing them together to form patterns we could learn from. Without a sense of Time we would be like infants, not knowing when it was time to eat, etc. Time is important to any intelligent being.

Time isn't a tangible thing, it's an abstract counting system.
You are merely wrestling with two different metaphysical concepts which trick you by both being called "exist."
Existing in reality is not the same kind of thing as existing as an idea.
Time does not exist as a tangible thing. Only reality exists as a tangible thing. Time exists as an abstract tool used to describe reality.
<> some of you guys are way overspecialized. Study language usage before it's too late.

Time exists, in the sense that it always progresses in a forward manner. You probably heard that time doesn't exist from somebody trying to say that humans invented the unit of time, which is true. A second is an arbitrary measurement of time, but time does exist.
Essentially, time is quantified by humans, but exists due to the universe.

Physics can't exist without time. Time is a fundamental component of the Universe, just like mass. Whether human beings exist or not is irrelevant, maybe, but I suspect that human being's existence, Life, the Force, as in the Star War's spiritual Force, may also be a fundamental component of the Universe.
