Us humans have only been around for a very short space of time and our knowledge of history is also very short in compared to how much there is to know. With this in mind, I think its more than possible, even rational and logical to assume there could be living beings in the universe that are far more advanced than us and they created us and this planet. Unfortunately, most people don't even consider this very plausible possibility because these non-earth based beings haven't shown themselves to us so because they haven't seen them they decide its impossible.
Also, most indigenous cultures around the world tell us that this is our origins but rather than accept their version of history we deny it as fantasy.
When you consider the vastness of space, its highly probably that a race of beings were technologically advanced millions of years ago so there technology today would be god-like to us and so beyond our compression.

It's possible. That could possibly be the reason aliens haven't contacted us. Maybe they are waiting for us to find them.
Or we could have been a colony. Just something happened that cut us off from the rest of the galaxy, like a war, or a supernova sending out an EMP (completely messing up our technology)
Just a suggestion.

Hmm, some years ago a guy found a fossil inside a rock, as you do, but he also found a preserved sandal also in this rock, the fossil dated back some few million years ago so it's quite possible that the sandal is the same age when dinosaurs were around...
I used to believe when growing up that we are failed experiment by 'aliens' and have just been left to it, or they are still watching in amazement as if we are ant's on an ant farm. Who knows?

It's certainly a possibility, though I am unaware of any evidence or theory to suggest it. But, having said that, scientists are constantly proving themselves wrong, and being forced to modify their ideas, theories, conjectures and models.

Actually, the assertion that this is their version of history is fantasy.

See The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, a trilogy in six parts.
As he reveals, it was the mice who terraformed the Earth and yes we are an experiment being run by the mice.
Always take your towels and Don't Panic.

Where there is no evidence to favour a complex hypothesis or a simple hypothesis always chose the simple one - just because it is easier.
The day one shred of evidence for alien life on Earth appears we will re-write the standard model.

It's possible, but I don't think that's how we were created.
