Could gene splicing cause similarities in DNA pattern between 2 different species

you would probably need biotech though.Size has little to do with how compatible two species would be.-EVERYTHING is compatible with gene splicing.Thats (one) reason why its so powerful (and controversial).......

If they join segments of DNA or RNA together of species closer to the same size like a rhino & hippo. If they joined enough segments of DNA/RNA together with these two species eventually will this cause a similarity in DNA patterns?

You don't need to do gene splicing to do that. For all the hubbub over biotechnology, the thing that people need to realize is that with 'traditional' breeding practices (i.e. helping things mate and have sex) result in much bigger changes (which is both a good and bad thing). An interspecific hybrid is exactly that, and yes, they tend to have a hybridized DNA pattern.

For a rhino-hippo, you would probably need biotech though. Size has little to do with how compatible two species would be.
