If you drink something too hot you'll burn your tastebuds and temporarily will not be able to taste in that particular spot (or will just taste much less). Tastebuds typically regenerate in 10 days. Over time as you age your tastebuds will become more desensitized (less sensitive) but as far as permanantly weakening your taste buds.. idk, try smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a days...
