How come we never feel the earth moving around the sun. If we live on the 3rd planet of the sun, how come we never feel the earth moving?

Humans are too small compared to Earth, and there is no air in space to blow any off. And the solar wind is just particles, not very solid.

az_lender say: As you may know, acceleration due to earth's gravity is around 9.8 m/s^2. You "feel" that as the pull that keeps you from flying away. The centripetal acceleration due to the earth's rotation is around 0.034 m/s^2. You "feel" that too, as a slight reduction in the pull of gravity. The centripetal acceleration due to the earth's orbit around the sun is around 0.006 m/s^2. You don't notice it, as the effect of the earth (on you) is much greater.

Earth is in a free fall orbit around the sun. So is your body. So they both move together. Gravity of the sun affects you and the earth in the same way. So what would you feel? There is no force or acceleration or friction on your body.

choko_canyon say: Considering how large it is and how small we are upon it, why would you imagine we would feel it move? It's not accelerating, so we don't feel any acceleration, it' simply orbiting the sun and spinning on it's axis. And since we're moving with it, why would we feel anything?
